  1. Something happened recently when I executed an SQL script to create a new table inside of my mySQL database.

Ever since, phpMyAdmin has been unable to find tables for purposes of displaying them in the left-hand pane. Also, half the time I attempt to access the database, I am unable to. Is there anywhere to begin to look for what might be misconfigured and causing an issue such as this? Half of the time I try to access my database, it merely kicks me to the initial phpMyAdmin screen that contains summary information.

Since you say "half of the time" it sounds like you may have a corrupt file in the phpMyAdmin install. I would try reinstalling the program and see if you still have the problem.

I can't think of anything off hand that you could do to the database to make phpMyAdmin break...it just queries the db...
