  1. Hello, I have a problem with 'account attrition' whereby when an employee leaves, their mailbox still have stuff in it, and I need to:

1.) Move all email from that old box to some other mailbox

2.) Delete the old pop account

3.) Create a forward that replaces the old pop account, probably going to the same place that messages went.

On point #1, using a 'forward' is no good, it makes the message appear to be from the day that you're doing the forward, and the original information can only be found within the message. These messages may have customer, hotel, and/or airline reservation in it, though, so we always review email contents at the new workstation.

I see the tool for importing and exporting the email account information, which is useful, but is only a part of the actual problem.... I need API access to the actual email contents.

Any thoughts? I know I'd use this at least a dozen times every year, between all the customers I have at DASP, and I'm sure others must run into this problem as well, so I'd love to hear your thoughts!

    Thanks in advance,

  2. Yeah? Hadn't thought of that, but the immediate customer in question is not yet on SmarterMail -- I've been dreading the conversion because o the password reset.

Are you on SmarterMail or the legacy mail system? If you are on SmarterMail, all you need to do is to log into the account in question and configure it to forward the email to another address.
