Question about Domain Name ownership

Hi,

I own and run www.thelouisianasportsman.com which I run as backend database web pages for my my main site URL www.baitntackle.net

My question to you is:
Can I rightfully and lawfully be the owner of www.thelouisianasportsman.com while another company has their site as www.louisianasportsman.com?

The owner of www.louisianasportsman.com has contacted me and stated that I am unlawfully using www.thelouisianasportsman.com.

How can this be? I bought the URL and I am using it for my business. To think that if it would have caused an issue, then that Domain name would not have been for sale.

Am I correct?
