    I'd like it, when people visit a subdirectory on my domain, for people to see the index.php file because there is no index.html file there, but I can't figure out how to do it. I just see the list of all the files in the dir. I tried a simple .htaccess file in the directory (DirectoryIndex index.php) but it didn't work. Anyway I can point visitors directly to my index.php file?

    You can control the default document using the tool in the IIS Manager in your control panel.

    You can also control the directory browsing using the tool in the IIS Manager in your control panel.
