Remote connection from MS Access to MS SQL 2008 R2

I intend to access MS SQL database tables as backend database for frontend MS Access applications as linked tables. That means, the users will have MS Access applications as frontend. These applications will connect to the SQL Server remotely using the internet connection string. You can assume for example the computers that run these applications are connected to the internet but have no browser installed!
So, first is this possible?
Has anyone an example of the remote connection string in this case, knowing that I am using MS Access 2007 and wish to upsize the tables to MS SQL 2008 R2!
