remote connections

    An error has occurred while establishing a connection to the server. When connecting to SQL Server 2005, this failure may be caused by the fact that under the default settings SQL Server does not allow remote connections. (provider: Named Pipes Provider, error: 40 - Could not open a connection to SQL Server)

    Could you help me.....!

    Your ISP / Firewall / Antivirus software may be blocking the necessary port (1433). Try connect through port 14330.

  3. Thank you for your reply, but i'm new in this field, what i did i finish the web site and i upload it thru CuteFTP and in the discount asp.net control panal i selected Web Application Tool and i installed, when i try to test the link it gave me this message.

    could you explain to me...?

    woo.. ignore my previous post then. I thought you are getting this error when you try to connect remotely (as suggested by your subject line).


    if you are getting this in your web application, your connection string is probably set wrong.
