remote sql server management studio very slow

Hi,

I am using a developer version of sql 2005 behind an intranet firewall. When connecting to discountasp.net with management studio there is a lag time between action and response on the order of a minute. I can succesfully do everything i need to do but it takes forever. I've read that perhaps management studio is trying to access the internet for verification on each action. I believe there is a simple fix. Thanks

I do have a latency issue, since i am using a satalite link. I will let you know how things work with a cable line.
