  1. I am in the process of building a website in which authorized users can view reports. If I use Report Services to create these reports, can the authorizedpersons view them without each person having a Client Access License? Can they be allowed to modify reports or to generate them themselves without having a local copy of SQL Server 2000? Thx

    1) Reporting services uses a standard reporting language. Theoratically, you can create report using any text editor. However, it is almost impossible to do unless you are guru!! We recommend creating report using the report designer, which is a plug in to VS.net 2003 that comes with reporting service installation.

    2) There is no Online Interface for reporting service.

I think you'll need at least developer version of SQL installed on your computer if you want it use this service.

  3. OK, thanks - does that mean I have to buy a Standard or Developer Edition of SQL Server or can I create reports using an online interface and your license? And if I have to buy a license, which one do I need? Also are there any reports that were created with RS that you know of on discountasp that I can look at? Thanks-I'm preparing to buy webspace with you guys and am just trying to figure out what I need. Your forum is awsome and your support for dummies like me is great. Thanks

Your user do not need any license to view the report.

You only need license if you want to install Reporting Service & report designer.
