  1. Hi

I made a tactical error when I first set up my site. It is a .com domain and hosted on a US based server. But the content is soley UK based. The result is that my site is invisible to Google.co.uk users who restrict their seach to pages from the UK. Google define UK based as either a .UK domain or a UK based server.

I am delighted with the service DASP provide so I don't intend to move the site so I have bought a new .UK domain name.

If I used the Root Domain Pointer addon to point the .UK address to theroot domainwould Google see my pages as www.mysite.uk/mypage.html or www.mysite.com/mypage.html?

If I switched the names making .uk the primary and .com the addon would Google's existing linksto www.mysite.com/mypage.html come up as page not found or wouldthey go to www.mysite.uk/maypage.htmlor just www.mysite.uk/?

    Thanks

  3. Thanks Bruce

I have purchased the Root Domain Addon.

When I type www.mysite.uk/mypage.htmlin the browser address bar it resolves to www.mysite.com/mypage.html which is the address that appears in the address bar. (Much better than web forwarding which would have given a page not found error.)

What I would really like to happen is for the page to resolve as .uk rather than .com if possible? So that www.mysite.uk appears in the address bar and all the internal links in the page are www.mysite.uk/.. to be sure that Google recognises the site as being uk based.

The .uk domain name is registered outside of DASP. Will pointing the Domain at the DASP name serversgive the result I am looking for?

your site probably has some redirect code that does that. i can ensure you that it is not the web server.

    ah.. ic

    you are using URL forwarding.

Updating the DNS on the domain should solve the problem.

Changed name servers and it worked straight away.[IMG]

  7. There is no redirect within the code of my web pages.

However the .uk address has web forwarding enabled to www.mysite.com/ and the name servers are

    dns0.easily.co.uk 213.161.76.87
    dns1.easily.co.uk 217.206.221.213

Should I remove the web forwarding and change the name servers to

    ns1.discountasp.net 64.79.161.51
    ns2.discountasp.net 216.177.89.10

Sorry if these are dumb questions I just want to be sure I'm not going to wreck anything.

    Cheers
