  1. Hi all,

I have looked at DiscountASP on and off, and there is currently only one thing stopping me from switching some accounts over.

I live in Australia, so the problem I have is we often have two domain names registered:
    1) mydomain.com
    2) mydomain.com.au

I know that I can set up a DiscountASPaccount and usea root domain pointer to have either address point to the same website.

The problem relates to emails. The reply I got from [email protected] was that they do not provide email service for root domain pointers.

Say I have the following email accounts:
    [email protected]
    [email protected]
    [email protected]

How can I set up using DiscountASP so that any emails to [email protected] go to [email protected] and so on?

As my .com domain names approach renewal I am switching them to GoDaddy as the registrar. The .com.au domain names are using MelbourneIT as the registrar (as they are the main people for .com.au).

Is it possible to do something tricky with the domain name settings?

    Thanks

  2. Unfortunately there's really no tricks you can setup to achieve what you're trying to do. The problem is that mydomain.com.au still needs to resolve to a mail exchange server. The best solution is to setup your domain pointer with an 3rd party email hosting company so that your domain pointer will have email capability. Then create an alias within the 3rd party email service and point [email protected] to forward emails to [email protected].

  3. Thanks for the answer rcp. I'll take a look at what email options there are and how I can take care of the email separately to the websites (never thought of doing that).
