Securing Site, RapidSSL, What do I Need??

1. To use RapidSSL on my account do I have to pay $10 a month?

2. If I have to pay $10 a month, can I assume whatever I need from Rapid SSL is free and that DiscountASP.NET will handle installing what needs to be installed.

3. Is is possible to just order my Cert from RapidSSL (only $49) and install it myself without the $10 monthly fee?

All I really want to be able to do is log into my website and make some changes, ONLY I will be logging.. I am just trying to prevent my password from being sent in clear text!

 

Yes. The $10 is for SSl addon which includes unique IP for your account and option to use 'free' rapidSSL certificate

The rapidSSL itself is free with $10 add-on subscription. Everything else you need from them you'll have to pay for yourselves and no, we don't install it for you. You'll need to install the certificate into your account as seen here

you can order the certificate practically from anywhere you want but the $10 is mandatory so that you can have a unique IP for your account. This unique IP is where the SSL get binded to. You can't have SSL without unique IP (SSl addon)
