  1. I am using DynDNS Custom DNS service for my domain. Is there any setting (mx or txt entries) I need to add to get the email working?

As it is right now, I am getting a "550 unable to relay for my_user@my_domain.com" errors.

I have tried sending email from different hosts, and sending command directly via telnet.

  2. You should be able to see all the necessary DNS settings by going in the Control Panel to the DNS Manager (https://my.discountasp.net/dns-manager.aspx). On that page you'll see all the DNS settings for your domain.

Also, you'll want to make sure that you've set up SMTP Authentication in your email client, as this error is commonly shown when trying to send email without authenticating.

  3. I wouldn't be able to see it in the DNS Manager because I am using DynDNS Custom DNS Service. I did not register my domain with DiscountASP.

I believe you are missing the point. I am trying to send email from outside into the email accounts I have on DiscountASP.

That is, sending for example from myemail(at)gmail(dot)com to postmaster(at)myDiscountASP_Account(dot)net, assuming that the "myDiscountASP_Account(dot)net is the domain I've registered with DynDNS and am pointing to my hosting account at DiscountASP.

  4. OK, I got it, you were right about the DNS Manager.

  5. Sorry, I thought you were trying to send from your email hosted with us, and glad to see you got it working.

  6. Thanks for your help. Couldn't have made headway if it weren't for your heads up.
