  1. I have a UBB.classic? 6.7.2<!-- 06070201.210.2.16 --> forum as part of our website but cannont get the e-mail feature to work correctly. When it tries to send an e-mail I receive the following error. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Unable to connect to the SMTP server. The following error was returned: Unknown error

The server either does not exist, or rejected the connection.

Please ensure that the UBB is allowed to relay mail through the server.

    It's a PONTIAC thing......everyone understands

  5. I just tried localhost and am receiving the same error.

I did read in another post on this forum that someone with a yabb forum (I think it was) was havinga very similar issue and had to download a mod for the forum in order to get their mail function to work correctly. Do you know if there is something similar available for the UBB.classic? TIA for your help!

  6. I have contacted them through their support forum as well and received the following response. Below is a link to the thread as well.

Charles @ UBB Support Forum said...

This could point at a faulty Perl installation - we've seen cases where somehow the Perl installation lacks permission to open sockets, which would be needed in order to connect to the SMTP server.

Unfortunately I don't have any details on exactly what causes this, nor how to fix it.

In any case, this is not a UBB.classic problem, something's wrong at the server, network, or Perl level. (The error is only being reported by your UBB, not caused by it.)

  9. I believe we have identified why the email is not working. It appears that the forum uses MIME::Lite for their email which is currently not installed here at DASP. I have a support ticket open and they have mentioned asking the system admin if it can be installed, but I have yet to hear back from them.
