Sending email from UBB.classic? 6.7.2

I have a UBB.classic? 6.7.2<!-- 06070201.210.2.16 --> forum as part of our website but cannont get the e-mail feature to work correctly. When it tries to send an e-mail I receive the following error. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Unable to connect to the SMTP server. The following error was returned: Unknown error

The server either does not exist, or rejected the connection.

Please ensure that the UBB is allowed to relay mail through the server.

I just tried localhost and am receiving the same error.


I did read in another post on this forum that someone with a yabb forum (I think it was) was havinga very similar issue and had to download a mod for the forum in order to get their mail function to work correctly. Do you know if there is something similar available for the UBB.classic? TIA for your help!

I believe we have identified why the email is not working. It appears that the forum uses MIME::Lite for their email which is currently not installed here at DASP. I have a support ticket open and they have mentioned asking the system admin if it can be installed, but I have yet to hear back from them.
