  1. Hello,
We just purchased a new discountasp.net account for a client and they had questions regarding their email setup I was hoping you could help with.

Currently we have the domain name hosted with a different company that they used for their previous web hosting. We are in the process of getting the domain name mapped to the discountasp.net name servers. They also have their email accounts setup with the other hosting company. We understand after changing the name servers for the domain their other email accounts will be disrupted. We plan on recreating all of the email addresses with the discountasp.net email setup.

In roughly 3 - 6 months our client plans on getting their own Exchange server. Will this be compatible with discountasp.net hosting and what will we need to provide for them to setup their Exchange server?

The full setup would be: domain name hosted with another company with the nameservers pointing to discountasp.net, web hosting hosted with discountasp.net and email hosted on their own Exchange server. Can you provide me with some information that we would need to ask the domain hosting company and any information you can provide that they would need to setup their Exchange server?

    Thank you,
    Sean Powers

you just need to update the MX record to point to your exchange server.

  3. Thanks Bruce,

Who needs to update the MX record? The company hosting the domain name?

The company hosting the domain probably has a DNS editor, you would do it there. Wherever the domain's name servers point, that's where you would typically do it.
