  1. I would like to get the online sales portion of my website to be a little more professional. Does discountasp.net offer a shoping cart solution (preferably in in .NET), or must I obtain one on my own? If I need to get one, what have others found that works well and is easy on the pocket book. I believe I really only need something basic.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated. :)

We do not provide a shopping cart solution but you are welcome to deploy your own solution. For a .NET shopping cart you can check out dotnetcart.com

  3. Hi Patrick,
if you want to get really basic and inexpensive (free) you could always try the commerce starter kit from http://www.asp.net/Default.aspx?tabindex=8&tabid=47

You will have to write the extra code yourself....I've just been playing around with the portal and it's quite neat....built myself a useful web site without too much trouble at all....the best benefit of course is having the source code to make changes....

  4. Hi All,
this might sound like a 'sales pitch' and in some ways it is.......I was building my new site using the portal app from asp.net when a thing called dotnetnuke caught my eye....I checked it out and there are 127,000 (yes 127,000) members on their site and thousands of people on their forum. I downloaded it and tried it out and it's excellent. I can't imagine how no-one had told me about this before.....so the sales pitch???

If you are building a web site check out www.dotnetnuke.com. It's the right price (free) and it's a very comprehensive portal.

I am building a pretty straightforward site but there are tons and tons of more complex sites being built with it....and because you get all the source code you can 'go to school' on dotnetnuke.

And it seems to work on discountasp.net just fine.

Hope some other folks struggling to get a decent web site up and running might read this and save themselves time and effort!!!

    Best Regardes
