  1. Hi all,

I'm a developer and I want to signup with DASP but it request me a domain, I don't have it for now as have to wait for the client to choose one, but meanwhile I would like to test the application (feature I think it's possible without pointing to domain).

I also have the option of register with an existing domain, I could register for a free domain and later transfer for a new domain via DASP but it would have costs associated, so I would like to know how bypass that costs.

    Summarizing:
I would like to signup without domain or without having later costs with domain transfer, making possible to test my application before going live.

What's the best choice/workaround for my problem?

    Thanks

  2. Hi,
I'm not sure how support handles the setup without a domain name but yes you can code and test a server here with no active domain.
The DASP temp URL assigned to your account will be active from the beginning and for the life of your account, you can use it at all times for Visual Studio for example.

Contact support about the signup, [email protected] or ask discountasp on Twitter.
    All the best,
    Mark

  3. Thanks for the quick reply.

My problem is that I can't signup without having a domain... it ask me for an existing domain or to register a new domain, if I go for a existing domain later I will have to transfer the domain with costs associated.

    by the way nice Harley...

Oh and Yesterday I contacted support by e-mail but still no answer...

Sign up using an existing domain that you intend to use with the site. We'll set up our side to accept that domain but it is entirely up to you when you want to point that domain over to us. To get the domain to resolve to us, you just have to update your domain name servers. There is no cost for that.

With all accounts we provide an alternative ftp address and alternative url, so you can use the alt ftp/url to upload and test your site - even while the domain you signed up with is pointing to a live site at another host.

There is a fee to switch the domain name on the account (if that's what you mean), but if you request that switch during the first 30 days the account is active, just ask support to waive the domain change fee and they will. That's only for the first 30 days though.
