Silverlight Media control - issue

Discussion in 'Silverlight' started by swiftbirder, Apr 7, 2010.

  1. Hello,

Today I migrated my website to Server2008 and II7 in order to take full advantage of the new Silverlight technology.

I tried a quick test page on my site containing the Silverlight Media control, in order to show some application screen captures.

However, the control does not appear on the screen and I get the following error:

ERROR: Sys.InvalidOperationException: InitializeError error #2104 in control 'ctl00_conPlaceHolder_vidSWIFT'. Could not download the Silverlight application. Check web server settings"

Has anyone seen this before? A quick search seemed to point towards adding the MIME types for .xap and.xaml but they appear to be in the default MIME types already under the IIS7 configuration.

Anyone been able to run this control on their website?

    Thanks,
    Steve

  2. Just realized there is a Silverlight section in the forum, oops, sorry maybe someone can move this question there.

Also saw someone with the same error message and saying it was resolved by putting the clientbin in the root? Not sure if that is referring to the Silverlight DLL files being moved out of the bin directory but I tried that and still no luck..

  3. Figured it out. It was a missing subfolder in my structure (that the control was looking for).

Bit of a misleading message about not being able to load the application but at least it is fixed.
