  1. I see the SmarterStats tool is taking over for LiveStats. I have a few questions regarding this.

    1. When I enabed SmarterStats, it looks like it imported my logs for the past month. Is this information kept availableby SmarterStatslater so the Month-by-Month reports will eventually work?

    2. If I switch from W2K3/IIS6 hosting to W2K8/IIS7 and then immediately switch to SmarterStats, does that mean SmarterStats won't have any log info to initially work from since I've switched servers?

    3. Is there any way to get it to import more than the past month, or are those logs not on the server anymore? Reason I ask is I have one client I supply reports to that likes that month-to-month comparison report and when I switch them to SmarterStats they're going to have to go look at their last LiveStats report and cobble the info together if SmarterStats doesn't have more than the past month available to create its reports.

    4. Is there any way to export thesereports to PDF like LiveStats did?

    Thanks.

When you enable SmarterStats, it will parse all the available log files in the log directory. We keep 30 days of log.

Once the data is imported, it will be kept for 1 year in SmarterStats.

If you are switching, it may be easier if you enable Smarter Stats first because it will move the data as well.

    Nope.

    I don't believe there's such an option.

  3. Thanks Bruce. I appreciate the answers.

  4. One more question...

Are you guys running SmarterPing to keep the automatic e-mail generation going? I've checked out the SmarterTools forums and the daily/weekly/monthly report e-mail functionality only runs when the SmarterStats .NET application is loaded and running (obviously) so they recommend running SmarterPing to keep it going. Seems to me it would be better if you guys ran that as opposed to a bunch of us goobers all running our own copies and pinging the crap out of the servers.

    Thanks.

Using SmarterPing is only necessary on very low traffic sites. Our SmarterStats servers(or any of our servers for that matter) don't fall into that category.

You do not have to run SmarterPing to maintain the email reporting.
