No. You cannot setup an application to open socket on our server.

  2. Hi there,

I don't know if anybody has tried this at all, but what I'm trying to do is set up a 'chat' page using sockets.

It all works fine on my computer, but when I upload to the website it doesn't.

I've basically set up a pc to run as a 'server' using sockets, listening on an IP address and port no.

I then set up a 'client' on the web site hosted at discountasp.net to talk directly with the 'server' on the ip address and port no.

Is this possible from a website?

As I say it all works fine at home, all working on 1 pc.

The error that is generated by the website is 'No connection could be made because the target machine actively refused it'

Any help would be greatly appreciated,

    Thanks,

    Jugs
