  1. Last night I had over 3000 messages that were bounced back to me. Someone is using my website with anything in front to send out email.

    I understand the SPF is supposed to help. What would the SPF text record be. I've read thru the emails and tried this in the past. But now that I'm getting so many I have to put this in to try and stop the junk mail and the bouncing back to me. Any help would be appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Gil

  2. I took a look. But it appears to be for receiving emails and not sending. Many of the emails bouncing back to me are from valid users. But someone is using my web site email like [email protected] to send out there spam. It hits a valid email user and there software bounces it back to me. I want to use the SPF on my server so that no one can send emails out except for me because I'm using a valid set of IP addresses to send it.

    This is what I figured out but not sure if it's totally accurate. The text record as follows.

    v=spf1 ip4:216.32.60.0/24 ip4:64.209.134.0/24 ip4:64.79.170.0/152 ip4:64.209.135.0/24 a mx ~all

    Thanks,
    Gil

    trust me.. having SPF doesn't help much.

    SPF is still not widely adopted, ie. not many email servers are configured to delete the message if SPF doesn't match. This means that if someone forges your email domain, it will still bounced back to you.

    Do you have Catch All enabled? Disabling this will help a lot.

  4. Thanks for the response. If I don't use the catch all does it still consume space on my account or are they deleted immedialy?
    Thanks,

    If you don't enable catchall, those bounces will be bounce back to the sending mail server and since it is a double bouce, it should be discarded.
