  1. Hello,

I'vejust gotstarted creating my new website using Visual web developer 2005 express edition with thesql server 2005 express edition.
In my hosting plan I've justboughtit's mentioned that only sql server 2000 is available to me, and quite honestly, I can't see why I should pay extra 10$/month forthe2005version- I can't tell the diffrent. So, my question is:

    1. if I'musing the 2005 version of sql, would it be possible to upload my stuff and it would work, altough i didn't payed for the 2005 version?
    2. ifthe answear is not, then how can I arrange so my visual web developer 2005 will use the 2000 version my sql and not the 2005 version?

Thanks, and sorry about my bad english - only just started my berlitz course... [IMG]

If you are using SQL Express in your local environment to develop your site. Then you should get the SQL 2005 addon. It costs the same as the SQL 2000 addon.

We have a new Control Panel tool - the Attach MDF File Tool - that makes transferring SQL Express data to the hosted SQL 2005 database much easier.

  3. Not sure what you mean by $10 extra, SQL 2000 and SQL 2005 cost the same (unless they changed that very recently).

As far as transferring SLQ2005 to SQL2000, I guess it would depend if you are using any new features. Data is Data, its the format that would restrict migration

Also - if you already ordered the SQL 2000 db you can still switch to SQL 2005. We just have to cancel the SQL 2000 add-on. You can email billing for that.
