SQL Server Express and Hosting

  1. Salutations,
    I'm posting this to help clear up some of the confusion over the SQL Express products and Shared Hosting.
    Personally I can see how this causes so many developers to scratch their heads.
    While I am an advocate of the Learning series videos at http://asp.net I do wish they wouldn't use SQL Express.

    Microsoft'sMike Wachal posted several articles about this recently.

    Mark, thank you for posting.

    I'd like to make an addition, I recommend user using SQL attach tool to migrate their SQL Express database to our server.

    Database Publishing Wizard works just fine but it can be painfully slow if you have a sizable database. It is designed for hosters that do not offer you ability to attach the db.

  3. I did test both methods and do agree the DASP Attach method is the way to go. [​IMG]
    Want a Video for that or do you think everyonefinds that clear enough?

    I think the attach process is self explantory enough that we get very few question.

    The attach process works 99% of the time unless you are doing something funky w/ the source database like having multiple data files, etc.
