I have an asp.net website hosted by another provider and an SQL database attached to it. That provider doesn't support SSL on the SQL database.

At this stage I just want to get a SQL database up and running with SSL and then look at moving the website over down the track if everything works the way I hope it does. I just wanted to confirm the process for getting the following up and running:

I setup an account as per your normal process and use the domain name hosted by the other provider. Then add a SQL database as an add-on to the account.

Do I need to add the SSL add-on?
Can I use the free RapidSSL cert for the SQL database?

    Thanks for your time.
    Cheers

Our SQL server already has SSL certificate installed, eg. sql2k801.discountasp.net

We cannot install your own cert to the server. You'll have to use our cert.

Thanks for your rapid response Bruce.

Just confirming then that I just need to create an account and add the MS SQL 2008 database add-on and use your 'built-in' cert to enable an encrypted connection to it.

    Cheers

Correct. No need to add SSL service.
