    How is the Free SSL certificate billed—monthly, quarterly or yearly? And how much do you charge to maintain it?

    You would need the SSL add-on, and that is $10 a month. The total for your plan length (annual or quarterly) is charged. So it's $30 or $120. That is prorated if you order at any time during your term.

    not meaning to hijack the thread, but if i want to first try out a free ssl certificate gotten elswhere (or a paid one for that matter), do i still need to pay for the ssl addon or not?

    Yes, the addon comes with a unique IP needed for use.
