  1. I have purchased the SSRS 2008 add on, and I can connect to the report server through IE, but I don't seem to have the right permissions set up (I don't see any reports folders and I'm unable to publish using the user name provided to me). I updated the security for the user name given to me to allow for publishing, but I still don't see everything I should see??

Can I get to the ReportServer SQL Server database remotely through SQL Server Studio the way that I can with my SQL Server 2008 database hosted on discountasp.net??

Here is the Visual Studio error I get ...

Error 1 The permissions granted to user 'RS2K801\usernamegiventome' are insufficient for performing this operation. 0 0

Thanks to anyone that can help!!!

  2. Hey Christie,

Usually there's a specific "Reports" folder you see when you connect to your SSRS, and you only have permissions to do anything within this folder. If the folder isn't there however, contact Support and they can recreate it for you.

I don't know for sure you can connect through SQL Server Management Studio, but maybe someone else that's tried it can answer that.

  3. Hi,
We are given the "Root Path" but we have to create the folder on our sites.
This really isn't a problem since you'll be publishing the reports from VS, just make sure they are in the correct folder, then once logged in your browsing <dir> will have access to them.
    i.e.
    Root Path: /yoursitecom/reports/
    TargeReportFolder: /yoursitecom/reports/
    TargetDataSourceFolder: /yoursitecom/reports/

As for connecting from SQL Server...I don't see how yet if there is a way.
    All the best,
    Mark
