  1. Hey...

I am setting up a new site that requires an SSL cert and have a few questions.

    1) When I log into the DASP SSL Manager to generate the CSR your console asks for "Organization Name". I know that "Organization Unit" is apparently not important from another post (though it does display to the user) but does Organization Name have to match on the SSL? My SSL Cert Authority only lists name and address not Org Name (I used GoDaddy because they were only $12.99 and I had not read the DASP tech note on why I shouldn't use them). I assume that I will use "Name" for Organization Name and put something nice in for Organization Unit.

    2) If something doesn't match correctly when I set up the SSL is it likely that I can tweak on this through the SSL Manager or am I dog meat?

I am obviously thrashing around for guidance so any help is appreciated...

    Thanks.

  2. You should actually be able to use anything for Organization Name. You're basically using the Control Panel to first get the CSR, which you'll take to GoDaddy for the SSL. They'll then send you the SSL and you'll install it through the Control Panel.

Since you will take the CSR to GoDaddy, the information will be the same as the one that you entered in our Control Panel. They might have you fill out the information again, but I don't think it has to be specifically the exact same in the case you're missing some boxes to fill out.

If the case that you want to change the information, you will have to fill out the form in our Control Panel again to generate a new CSR. If you have an SSL already installed, this will have to be removed, as there isn't really a way to edit an SSL. Once you get a CSR or SSL, if you want to make changes to it, you have to start the process all over again, and sometimes your SSL vendor may or may not allow re-issuing it.

  3. Very helpful, thanks.

    Tam-

    Very helpful, thanks.

It didn't occur to me that the CSR that I build in your CP will naturally match the SSL that GoDaddy builds off the CSR. Other info that GoDaddy has on file for my account is not relevant then.
