  1. It seems the topic of subdomains has been beat to death in these forums. But I'm still not clear on one thing:

If I'm willing to purchase another discountasp.net account, is it possible to have the subdomain of blog.mydomain.com go there? (That is, a completely separate root application for this subdomain - as opposed to redirecting to a subdirectory off of www.mydomain.com).

sure.. that is no problem. Just signup the account, it will be setup properly.

  3. You can set up a subdirectory to function as a self-contained Web Application.

This KB Article Q10181 explains exactly how to do it.

As for making the subdomain go to the subdirectory, this KB Article Q10102 explains how to do that with one simple piece of code.
