    I'd like to sign up.
I do not want to switch my domain name on until I'm ready.
Your sign up requests my domain name which scares me a bit.
And wont let me through the sign-up until I give it to you.
Its like you might try and switch the domain for me, which would be a disaster~
Can I just run with the IP (which I assume you will give me as soon as I sign up?!) and switch the Domain name pointer when I've got everything running (website and email) and am comfortable with your server?

    P:)

  2. Hello and welcome.

The signup page requests a domain because we need to know the domain name you'd like to use with the account, but you don't have to actually point the domain right away.

The domain name is basically used to determine your hosting account name, and a couple of other settings.

I'd recommend when signing up, you put your domain name, and when the account is active you can use the alternative URL for the time being. When you're good and ready, you can then point your domain to us.

We can't (and wouldn't, even if we could) change the name servers for your domain. We're on your side. Don't be scared. ;)

  4. Switch domain name

So just to confirm, I can leave www.whatpub.org pointing (reluctantly!) at webhost4life until I've verified it's all up and running on DiscountASP using temporary URL (something like site343434.discountasp.net?) and then change my DNS zone record with ZoneEdit when happy?

    Cheers, Rob.

  5. ...Absolutely, I've done that many times here.

    You have our deepest condolences.

  7. You have to laugh, otherwise you'd cry :) Great example of how to take a cheap-n-friendly but maybe overloaded service and drive it head first into the ground.

Only positive is that as people leave them in droves, the performance of their old infrastructure (which is where my site still is) is improving daily...

    Cheers, Rob.

  8. Welcome aboard Rob.
You're going to love the DASP Control Panel and IIS7 integration compared to what..well you know. ;-)
    All the best,
    Mark
