  1. I've read serveral posts about transfer and think I understand but I just want to make sure. I have a domain registered and hosted with 1 and 1. They have several limitations on asp.net that trouble me, specifically using asp.net with a read only DB. I want to use access, they require sql.

So, according to one post, I can sign up with Discount, load my site on their server using an alternatve URL they have available, test it, get it running etc. Once that is done, I go to 1 and 1 and just point the domain (DNS) to Discount. 1and1 remains the registrar and I pay them what ever fee for a domain only. I pay Discount a hosting fee.

It looks like Discount will do the registration for 15.00 but if my fees are lower at 1 and 1, no reason to do that, correct.

  2. Unfortunately we are not a certified registrar so we cannot do registrar transfers. We can only register the domain name for you if it is open to the public. To have your domain name point to our servers you will need to contact 1and1 and have them update the name servers of your domain name to ns1.discountasp.net, ns2.discountasp.net, and ns3.discountasp.net.

  3. Thank you ...is it true I can load the site and test it before I point the domain to the new Discount servers?

  4. Yes, you can go ahead and use the alternative url that is provided through your hosting control panel > account info/edit.
