Unable to publish DB using WebDeploy?

I've been trying to figure this out for hours... I see that it has happened to a few others once or twice but I can't seem to find a solution. I get the following error:

Failed to publish the database. This can happen if the remote database cannot run the script. Try modifying the database scripts, or disabling database publishing in the Package/Publish Web properties page. If the script failed due to database tables already exist, try dropping existing database objects before creating new ones. For more information on doing these options from Visual Studio, see http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkId=179181.
Error details:An error occurred during execution of the database script. The error occurred between the following lines of the script: "1" and "3". The verbose log might have more information about the error. The command started with the following:
"CREATE ROLE [aspnet_Membership_BasicAccess] AUTHOR"
User, group, or role 'aspnet_Membership_BasicAccess' already exists in the current database.

Anyone have a clue what this is all about and how to solve it? Many thanks for any help!

This looks like a problem w/ webdeploy's database provider. Its trying to create a role that already exists. In general, the script should drop the role first.
