Upgrading the WebSupergoo ABCpdf component?

  1. We are using the ABCpdf component to generate PDF files on the fly, following closely the instructions on their official website. However, quite frequently, our users report that the file 'is damaged and cannot be repaired' , a situation we have confirmed by leaving a copy on the server to inspect it later. They try at a different time and sometimes it works.

Since version 5 is marked as obsolete, the latest version, 6, might fix that issue as well as some others posted in this forum.

My question is: do you have plans to upgrade in the near future?

    Thanks,

    Amador

Not sure at this point. Websupergoo has changed the way they want to work with hosters for the new versions so we are still in off and on discussions with them. If the componenent is mission critical to your website, then we would suggest puchasing the component and let them know that you are a DiscountASP.NET customer.

  3. Thank you very much for your quick reply. We will probably install a trial version 6, create an alternative page with it, asking some of the users who have problems to try it out. If it really solves the isssue, then we will go for it.

It's a strange problem anyway. We can login as any user, from many different machines, and never had a single failure creating & downloading a pdf file. But a few users keep reporting the same problem, without any clue. We increased the space for the asp_net user but nothing. They report to have a good connection, download the pdf file correctly, but it was damaged when it was generated, there are traces of the asp.net page inside it.

If anybody ever heard about this issue, then any tip would be welcome!

    Thanks again,

    Amador
