  1. Found two work arounds for people having problems with upsize wizard in access to a remoteMSSQL

    (Slow but it works.)
    1. If you select a table in the access db window and select export you can then pick ODBC and select your DSN then provide your password. This worked fine. Bad part is you do this for every table.

(Much Better if you have the tools)
-Insure you install a copy of MSSQL on your local machine, evaluation copy or purchased.
Install the Clientsoftware (Management Console) and the DB server. Setting up the local server can be a little bit of a pain when setting up the security connection and using the windows Xp user account. To long to get into.

-create a blank DB on the local MSSQL server.
-Then upzsize in access to the local MSSQL server, this worked fine for me.
-Go to the Management Console of MSSQL and then select TOOLS-Wizards select DTS export wizard.
-Follow instructions and it worked great!

I think Access upsize wizard is a little flaky when it comes to large sets of tables/data and connecting to a remote server that will havea little connection lag.

    Hope this helps. [IMG]

  2. Ok hope someone can help.

I've created a DSN in the ODBC settings of my local machine.
The DSN connects fine to my Sql DB at Discountasp and can be used to link tables to access on my local machine.

    I'm running Access2000 sp3.

When I run the upsizing wizard,
I select existing SQl Database, I select the DSN,its prompts for the password,
Then I wait about 20 seconds or so then I get a error message.

-SqlServer does not exist or permission denied.

    Next message.
-Sqlserver must be version 6.5 or greater for the upsizing wizard to work.

So im out of ideas. I know the DSN works since I can connect fine with the password, etc..

Unfortunately, the upsizing wizard is very flaky. We've seen many reports of this problem
