  1. I would like to access our SQL Server 2005 database hosted on discountasp.net as a linked server to archive data into a local database. I can define the linked server without a problem and can see the tables. However, when I execute a query that references the linked server, I get an error message because the discountasp.net server name contains dots, which for SQL Server are used to separate the server.database.owner.table name.

    Msg 117, Level 15, State 1, Line 3

The object name 'sql2k503.discountasp.net.SQL2005_245451_KIM.dbo.Employees' contains more than the maximum number of prefixes. The maximum is 3.

    Has anyone done this successfully?

    Thanks.

  2. That did it. Perfect.

    Thanks.
