  1. Hello all -

I started using spamarrest a couple of months ago and for the most part, am happy with the service. I am definitely happy not to have to face all that spam. That said, I am a Blackberry user and for anyone that uses one, you know the pains of getting people to work with you to resolve your problems. Anyway, with my current setup, I have spamarrest polling my DASP mail every two minutes. It removes the mail from the DASP account and filters it to my spamarrest inbox which is then forwarded to my blackberry. In order for me to send emails from my blackberry with the proper "from" address, I also have to have my DASP account setup on the blackberry. Since spamarrest is snagging the messages from the DASP server every two minutes, it's rare that a message gets through from the DASP server to the blackberry.

Recently, however, I started seeing more and more emails from DASP on the bberry. I checked and spamarrest was not living up to the "every two minutes" deal. I emailed them complaining and one email that said "your mail server is not available" (total horse crap) and a second email saying that I should forward messages from my DASP account instead of letting spamarrest poll for messages (which means the messages stay on DASP as well and then I get duplicates for every email instead of just some), I finally got a third email explaining that some mail servers do not allow polling from the same IP address at frequent intervals. So it took three tries to get a logical answer. Fortunately, they are quick with their responses so from my inital complaint to now was only 3 hours.

So my question is this... Does DASP have anything on their mail servers that prevent frequent polling from outside sources such as spamarrest?? I would think the answer would be no since a number of DASP staffers have mentioned using spamarrest. Any help that could be offered would be greatly appreciated!

    Thanks,
    Patrick

  2. I use SpamArrest and my mail is on DASP.

You need to figure out a way to change your from address while checking the spamarrest account. Every mail client has this option. Though I am unfamiliar with blackberry, I'm guessing this option has to be burried somewhere.

  3. OK, that does not answer my question at all. That said, when creating a new message on the Blackberry I do have the option to specify the from address. However, when replying to a message that has arrived on my Blackberry, I do not have the option to change the from address as it is pulled directly from the "Received Using:" field of the original message. Since SpamArrest is forwarding the messages to the blackberry, using the blackberry's email address, replying uses the incorrect "From:" field and it cannot be changed. My solution to this has been to forward instead of reply, change the "From:" field, re-enter the recipients name, change the Fw: to Re: on the subject line and send away. So that is not an issue. The issue is getting my messages from DASP to SpamArrest at the proper interval (in my case, every 2 minutes).

So again, I ask... Does DASP have anything on their mail servers that would prevent frequent polling from outside sources such as spamarrest??
