  1. What is being recommending to convert a large vBulletin Forum to an ASP.NET Forum? I see that discountASP.NET is using vBulletin but I thought
you discontinued MySQL as an option for customers. I thought also that if I couldn't resolve some issues I could go ahead and use vBulletin. As for a top notch ASP.NET forum, what would you recommend?

    Thanks,

  2. Thank you wisemx,

I forgot to mention we went with discountASP.NET's partner Tekerik and selected Sitefinity for the CMS. All the forum messages need to be converted over and the old external links need to match up with the messages in the new forum.

    Thanks again,

That's not going to happen with any forum import/conversion that I know of. You will probably have to redirect requests that use the old format to the new forum.

  4. Thank you mjp,

Yes, the redirect is related but separate to the conversion. What import/conversion ideas do you recommend for converting vBulletin to an ASP.NET forum?

The import is going to be dependent on the new forum. So you may want to keep that in mind when you are deciding what to use. Look for something with a vBulletin importer. Hopefully you are running vB 3.x, because there are not many (any?) vB 4.x importers yet.

I'm afraid my experience with .NET forums is very limited so I can't make any specific recommendations.

  6. mjp,

Thanks for trying to help. I thought this issue would be much more common and there would be many resources to resolve this.

Yeah, unfortunately it's kind of uncommon to go from vB to a .NET forum.
