ASP 3.0 is also known as "classic" ASP - this is the latest version of Active Server Pages. This is older technology. If you are going to be investing your time to learn new stuff, then I wouldn't recommend ASP. Microsoft has moved on to ASP.NET. So the latest version is ASP.NET 2.0 whichwas officially released inNovember 2005. Microsoft is working on ASP.NET 3.0. For more information, you can check out the official ASP.NET site at http://www.asp.net Eric DiscountASP.NET http://www.DiscountASP.NET
So this post might be kind of funny, but I'm trying to get some much needed information. I've been programing for maybe 7 years now, and I've always been a few years behind in terms of the technology I'm using. In 2001 I thought just knowing html and some javascript was cool enough, then I discovered all this "asp 1.x, 2.0.net ado sql framework express 2005" stuff. I've always been good at finding a way to make things work with a limited know-how, so I've never done as much research as I should have. There were times that one control would fix my problem, but I would instead write 2 pages of code to make it work another way, just because that was the way I knew how to do it. So I'm just now tranisitioning to asp.net. Can someoneplease bring me up to speed on what the latest greatest must have technologies are? (in terms of asp) I saw asp 3.0 mentioned on w3schools, was that bogus? Thanks for all the help Josh
