Why can't subdomains point to a specific path?

  1. Every other web host provider on the face of this planet provides this functionality, yet DiscountASP only allows subdomains to point to the root. What good is this? Why would anyone need to have subdomains if all they do is point to the root?

  3. I guess that will work. The next question is, is adding subdomains available via the Control Panel API? I need my app to automatically create subdomains.

If you obtain the Unlimited Subdomain, you don't have to manually create the subdomain since a wild card DNS record will be in place for subdomains. You'll be able to reference any subdomain at your top level domain such as fubar.mydomain.com.
