  1. Will you support SQL CE 4.0? There have to be some server side installation to support this.

Right now, it seems not to be supported (Exception "Unable to find the requested .Net Framework Data Provider. It may not be installed.").

Do you plan to support SQL CE 4.0? If yes, when?

    Thank you,
    T.

SQL CE edition is not supported on our servers as a stand-alone database. It is a database for the mobile devices and is not appropriate for our production environment.

SQL CE 4.0 edition is automatically included in the WebMatrix projects, therefore, if you deploy your web application with WebMatrix, SQL CE 4.0 .sdf file will be included in your project. Please follow this link to read more about WebMatrix.

  3. let me just get this clear - If i use Web Matrix and i deploy my app to your hosting with a SQL CE database it WILL work?

    is that correct?

  4. As odd as that sounds, it's correct.

When WebMatrix apps are published it is deploying a lot of files which your application needs, including the SQL CE support files. For some reason, when you try to use SQL CE and try to just upload these apps, they end up having problems with it.

We are still trying to figure out the best way to publish these apps which are using SQL CE, so as soon as we figure it out, we'll be sure to let you guys know.

  5. ...Good to see that Jose.
Now that we have a DASP Staff approval I'll do some testing.

This was the same reason I tested the new versions of Access...

Have you solved this issue with using SqlServer Compact databases? I would like to deploy a Lightswitch application and access the Compact database directly. Otherwise, I am guessing I would have to create a Webmatrix project, using WCF services, then have my Lightswitch application use RIA services to access the WCF services to get data from the compact DB. It would be so much easier to connect directly to the compact database. I am a registered user since 2005, but for some reason cant login to the forum.

  7. It is supported and my tests have been successful.
