Moving from asp.net server to normal shared hosting

Discussion in 'ASP.NET / ASP.NET Core' started by Rachel Hiles, May 13, 2015.

  1. I have two websites: http://supportstofamilies.org and http://mofamilytofamily.org (well, there are a few other static one-page websites in this space as well..)

These were developed on a space at discountasp.net because we were originally going to have custom CMS built for us but that didn't happen. I've been advised that asp.net doesn't communicate well with our new hosting environment (typical shared hosting/Linux cpanel)...

so I've pretty much determined I'm going to have to reinstall my themes.... is there anyway to copy the databases and back up wordpress and import it somehow or should I just copy+paste and reupload all the content??

It seems to me like Wordpress is Wordpress, so if i back up the tables... i can import them when I install the themes in the new location, right?

For the most part, it is, yes.

Your best bet would be to read the Moving WordPress instructions at wordpress.org. It's pretty straightforward, but it's easy to miss some of the little details.
That depends on what you're trying to do. As you mentioned, WordPress is WordPress. It will run on a Windows server.
