Permission management

I want to set user and password for a page in my website. I defined a user and I want to access just that user to the page, so I denied the access of the Anonymous user to the page, but it doesn't change!. Now anyone can access the page like before.

 

That's exactly the issue I'm having. I think what he is saying, is he was trying to use the "permissions manager' to restrict access to a directory on his site...

http://www.site.com/app --Have this prompt for user name and password (similar to using .htacess) I'd like to know how to do this as well.
